October 2008 Update

The Spring 2007/08 reviews complete and the results can be found in the "Winners" section.

Bob and Cath were in Vernon and Vancouver for the yearbook conferences in September. Thank you to Cindy and Reid for the fantastic conferences, and to Arlene for the rides to and fro.

We spent a lovely few days in North Bay, ON with the Herff Jones representatives and students. There were huge laughs on "skit night" and who could ever forget the rousing game of "frolf". Thank you to Jim, Charissa, Matt, Jevan, and Ross for inviting us.

We then went on to Nova Scotia where we met students and staff and Herff Jones representative Ray Burke. We enjoyed our afternoon with them in Windsor.

Thank you to the students and reps that were at were in atttendance. We had a super time and hope that we were able to teach you a bit about yearbook layout, theme, photojournalism, and photography.

Applications for review are available by clicking on 'Forms'. There, you will also find the scholarship application, and a sample of the detailed critique. The detailed critique is a great resource for the planning and layout of your yearbook. It is free, as are the tutorials in the classroom.

The scholarship program will continue for 2007/08. Please click here for the results from last year. The mailing deadline for the current year is October 31, 2008, so make sure that your completed application is postmarked by Halloween.

Check our classroom section for tutorials on various topics of interest to yearbook students and staff sponsors. The classroom is updated frequently, the tutorials are free, and you are welcome to print them and use them for yearbook production or classroom teaching.

Once again the Canadian Yearbook Review would like to thank Lifetouch Canada for their generous prize of a digital camera for the top scoring book in Canada. 2006/07's top book is from L.A. Matheson Secondary School, Surrey, BC, with Vicky McKay as staff sponsor, and Kevin Betteridge of Friesens as yearbook company representative.
